Proposal:

For the first project, I got inspired by an example shown in class. The audio presented had a storyline that was easily followed and imagined by the listener. I thought of the idea to create a story revolving around a girl named Charmaine and how she was going to a party with her friend Talulah. I wanted to do this because I wanted to challenge myself; to create a party, there’s an abundance of background noise and music, yet still, be able to listen and understand the dialogue.
Throughout the party, the main focus is on the main character, but there are conversations to be heard in the background. During one of the scenes, there is an important conversation in the background that discusses the disappearance of girls. This piece is important as, at the end of the story, Charmaine disappears with a mysterious creature in the bathroom.
In the small film, I want to capture the relationship the two best friends have. The listeners are dropped into this storyline and are given dialogue that points to a troubling past for the friends. Nonetheless, they are trying to be better friends for each other, as seen when Talulah tries to calm and care for Charmaine as she is struggling with her anxiety. In the end, I leave the story open-ended, Talulah not knowing what happened to Charmaine and neither the listener, to an extent. Who knows if Charmaine and those other girls are really dead?

Proposal:

For the Video Montage, I wanted to do something similar to the audio project we did. I wanted to use a story I created with one of my friends and turn it into an animation. I used the application Clip Studio Paint to do the animation and Audacity to curate the audio. Also, I used videos that show acts or scenes to make the movements, characters, and scenery feel more alive. In addition, I got friends of mine to do voice lines for the characters and collected audio samples from youtube and online free audio sites to orchestrate the entire video.
In the video, we get introduced to Maliki, a detective, and Skylar, a forensic scientist, working on a crime scene committed by The Sniper. We’re shown some parts of the city like the bustling streets, similar to New York City. Maliki, later on, goes to the bar where she meets a bartender named Josh where she entertains herself before going to the mayor’s office for a meeting. Things happened and the bartender got injured, a butterfly effect Maliki caused. She helps patch him up and then leaves for the mayor’s office, but before she arrives, a cliffhanger is seen. The man who rules the underground is the detective's sister.
During this project, I was a bit stressed, having to create all these drawings and animations. That being said, I’m glad that I chose this route. I want to push myself and I haven’t drawn as much as I’ve done for this project. I’m happy to learn more about how to animate and even though I’m going to have to push till the end, I think I’ll have a satisfying outcome.
